This weekend Marybeth headed off to get some time with Molly. They are headed to Molly's parents lake house in Santee, to do absolutely nothing, just some nice R&R. Therefore I have our two and Ryan has Kate. Marybeth was supposed to leave last night but the whole thing almost got called off! Yesterday at about dinnertime Kate had a fever of 102! But when she woke up Kate felt better and after taking her to the doctor Molly called with the green light. MB excitedly skadaddled at about 9:30, and then the adventure began.
First, we painted, I took a picture of one of Celia's works that she and I collaborated on for our friend Sean...He is a huge Duke fan (Dad was a professor, grew up as a ball boy in Cameron!) She did the paint then I just clarified what it was she was laying out! This painting was entitled: VRUUKE! By Celia.
Then we went out to make a return at staples, and then to buy diapers at the grocery store. At the store an older woman pulled me aside and said she was proud of me because her husband would never do that. I think she was hitting on me so I kept flashing my wedding ring...but anyway, score one for the dad of the year! However while we were at the store I tried to think of anything else we needed, All I could think was beer so i got that and got carded. The bad thing is is that we needed stuff for dinner...Back to zero on the dad O' the year platform.
Next was lunch...naps...wake up...feed Bennett...flawless. Points up!
Since we needed a few things for dinner I called Melissa and Jake and we walked across the street to the fresh market. We got what we needed, but I am not used to handling the doublewide (stroller that it). While cruising through the aisles and eating samples of cheese, another older lady walked into me, did not even compliment my parenting skills, and I over compensating crashing into a display of spice cookies. Now we are at the fresh market so remember...nothing is cheap...there must have been $150 worth of spice cookies on the ground. Jake and I quickly tried to throw the 10-15 canisters back in their wooden crate, only to have another 25 canisters pour out! Back to Zero.
Then back to the apartment, ran around outside with Melissa and Jake, Bennett began to cry, went home, put Bennett down, set Cel up to watch a little Einsteins, and cooked dinner. Made some nice pizza (See the picture...We had to get sauce, cheese, sausage, a pepper, and onion). Cel and I pigged out. She ate 5 of her sized pieces, 2 and a half adult sized, and I kept hearing her say yummy, check her out she is psyched. I ate 4 pieces.
This is where it gets good. We were having some good daddy daughter time so i told her "You don't know how much i love you." She smiled and said "love you" between bites. Then about 10 minutes later she stopped eating and looked at me and said "Love you so much." She has never said that and it just got me, I lost it. Cel's points are up.
After dinner Cel got her bath, lotion, diaper, PJ's (I chose her Santa PJ's and she said YESSSS!), 2 books, 2 songs, and bed. I just fed Bennett for the last time tonight, so it appears we are gonna survive today. I will keep you posted about tomorrow.
